What is Feet on the Fly?

Feet on the Fly is an improvised outdoor fitness class on the move.

Feet on the Fly combines cardio and resistance training to keep your body on the move for 50 minutes (approx.) as we travel around San Francisco streets & parks. And don’t worry, it’s not as hard as it sounds. Cardio is broken up by resistance training, so that you utilize different muscle groups while others are in recovery. We use nature as part of our workouts, and honor that everyone is functioning at a different level with different fitness needs. And that’s where the improvisation comes in.

We make things up as we go along depending on who has joined us that day and the mood of the class. There are no “pre-made” workouts which means you’ll never have the same class twice! Because your well being is most important, each Feet on the Fly class is kept small (up to 8 people) so we can give you plenty of individual attention. Important: Feet on the Fly is not a bootcamp. If you are looking for a bootcamp, I highly recommend Alavie Fitness (formerly Bay Area Bootcamp).

Practicing some Yoga.
At the end of each Feet on the Fly session, we will be adding 15-20 minutes of yoga. Don’t be scared! It is beginner yoga and we will be able to do it outside with shoes on. The purpose of adding the yoga is to compliment our workouts with additional stretching and breathing techniques to connect body and mind. Simple practices in pranayama (breathing techniques) will greatly enhance your mental and your physical well being not just during your workouts, but throughout every day.

The social aspect: Building comaradarie and having FUN
There is a very strong and unique social aspect to Feet on The Fly. Special events like a trip to the Cat Club on a Thursday to dance to 80s music, a twilight run where we may end at a place with adult beverages, maybe a scavenger hunt with hidden tshirts…wrapped with glow necklaces…in the bushes…at night. Anything is possible! There is almost always coffee & post-workout chatter on Saturday mornings. Sometimes we even head to the Farmer’s Market. And that’s just the beginning. Monica is a creative at heart and extremely inventive, so more unique workouts in unique places are on the horizon.
