What Flyers Are Sayin’

I look forward to Feet on the Fly on Saturday mornings. It’s never the same routine. We meet in different parts of the City. We’re either racing cable cars or doing jumping jacks at Coit Tower. I’ve met some wonderful people having coffee after our work-outs. Monica, the woman who runs FoF has infectious energy. She makes working-out a blast! I miss the Saturdays I can’t make FoF.

I started training with Monica’s Feet on the Fly classes in November 2007, after suffering the back injury playing hockey. Joining Monica’s classes was the perfect combination of motivation, supportive training and positive renforcement I needed to recuperate and strengthen my back and “core,” so I could get back to playing hockey again.

I have now replaced my former (boring and sporadic) indoor gym workouts with Feet on the Fly classes twice a week. Feet on the Fly offers a great balance of weight training, high-impact cardio workouts, core strengthening and yoga, all in the same class! Monica excels at really getting to know her “flyers” and their individualized training needs. Because I play hockey, Monica personally tailors my weight-lifting exercises and core training to strengthen my skating muscles — including the legs, back, abs and core.

I love Feet on the Fly classes because Monica uses all of nature’s obstacles to challenge me and vary my workout. I am competitive and love training-hard, and Monica knows how to push to get me to perform my best — and at the same time — “flyers” are sociable, fun and supportive, and enjoy getting together to workout each week.

Feet on the Fly is a great experience. It fits my crazy schedule, especially when I need it the most. I always feel like I had a great workout. The group model is fun and motivating, and Monica is a wonderful instructor.
